Fall is officially here! While the season brings along countless outdoor activities (pumpkin patches, apple picking, and haunted houses just to name a few), sometimes the best part of fall is cozying up indoors. Whether you’re spending your days counting down until you can veg out on the couch or hosting a friend, a few small changes will make your apartment more inviting at the end of the day.
Get cozy
Temperatures are dipping, so bring out the comforters or duvets and store away the light summer bedding. And you don’t have to limit the blankets to the bedroom; adding throw blankets to your living room will keep you warm during those rainy day Netflix binges. Pick a fall shade to add a pop of colour or a unique texture for an extra cozy feel. Display them by draping them across your couch or tuck them away in a wicker basket that fits your fall theme. Complete the look with seasonal throw pillows and you’ll never want to leave your couch.
Organize your closet
Say goodbye to tank tops because hoodie season is here! Make it easy to grab your hoodies and sweaters by rearranging your closet or storing away your summer clothes if you’re limited on closet space. This is also be a great time to purge items you no longer love. Donate or sell the clothes you’re willing to part with and use the extra cash for fall activities and pumpkin spice lattes.
Prepare your entryway
Fall weather can be unpredictable and this can leave you and your apartment wet and muddy. Set up a coat rack or door hook for your jackets and scarves, a mud tray for your boots, and storage for your umbrella. These small changes mean less time cleaning the floor and more time catching up on fall TV.
Add some fall decor
Fall decorating doesn’t have to be expensive. If DIY is your thing, create your own decor with fall foliage, like pine cones and acorns for Pinterest-worthy wreaths and centerpieces. Or, check your grocery store for fall vegetables, gourds, and mini pumpkins. Pick a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours and display them around your apartment or as a centerpiece for your table. And, of course, you can find tons of fall decor that will fit any style or budget at home stores or even the dollar store.
Light scented candles
Nothing says fall like the smell of pumpkins and baked apples. Pick up some candles in your favourite fall scents and your apartment will instantly smell like fall baking without doing any of the work. Look for candles in fall colors or trendy holders and your candles will double as decor!
