What Area of Ottawa Should You Live In
If you are making a move to Ottawa and are unfamiliar with the city, you will be pleasantly surprised by all of the wonderful neighbourhoods that Ottawa has to offer. Here are a few of the best areas to consider for your new home:
If you are looking for family friendly neighbourhoods in Ottawa, there are many areas that you will love. Barrhaven is about 17 km southwest of Ottawa and is broken down into many smaller areas. You have the choice of either established neighbourhoods or the chance to live in newer areas such as Davidson Heights and Chapman Mills. If you want something fun and charming, Kanata has a small town feeling.
Orleans is a popular area that is growing quickly and also boasts a large number of French schools making it a popular choice for the French community. It is not too far from the city and has a community perfect for families with plenty of shopping and activities. Ottawa South is also a popular suburb ideal for families and couples alike with an easy commute into Ottawa’s city centre. Nepean is a little further out from the city centre, but it is a great choice as you can live with plenty of green space or choose one of the more developed neighbourhoods.
The perfect spot for singles and young couples is Centretown. This area is close to everything you need, including the best restaurants and plenty of nightlife. With a mix of newer and charming older buildings, Centretown has something that can suit any lifestyle.
The Glebe is just 15 minutes from the city centre and is a gorgeous area with mature trees and gorgeous larger homes. It can be wonderful for families, but is also very popular with power couples and young professionals much like Hintonburgh.
If you want to be close to the city, but also want to enjoy the charm found in smaller towns, the Golden Triangle is perfectly situated near Parliament Hill as well as many amenities easily reached by foot, bike or public transit.
As you can see, there are many different opportunities for enjoyable, convenient living in the Ottawa area.
